Charter Review Committee
Mission
The Charter Review Committee is an ad hoc committee with the mission of examining the existing Town of Essex Charter and proposing any revisions to the Selectboard.
Update December 2023: The Charter Review Committee was reconvened in January 2024 to review comments and questions from the Selectboard on the recommendations presented in 2022.
Meetings
- Meetings are held the 4th Wednesday of every month until the work is complete.
- Begin at 6:30 pm
- Located at Town Office Conference Room, 81 Main St., Essex Jct.
- Public wifi is available at the Essex municipal offices, library, and at hotspots mapped by the VT Public Service Dept.

The H.518 Bill was passed by the Vermont Legislature on January 24, 2024. All proposed amendments with the exception of Just Cause Eviction were passed.
