Andy has lived at his current residence in Essex since 1997 and was a Village resident for a few years in the mid-80’s. He was hired by IBM in 1983, transitioned to GlobalFoundries in 2015 and subsequently retired in early 2021. Andy is now the Deputy Director of Circulation for DaCapo Publishing (Seven Days newspaper) and occasionally substitute teaches at Essex High School, CTE, and the two EWSD Middle Schools. His wife, Janet, also retired, was a Math Teacher at ADL Intermediate School. Together, they have raised three boys, Adam, Colin and Nathan.

Education
Andy has a bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering and a PhD in Materials Science. He also has a Certificate of Graduate Studies in Ecological Economics.

Volunteer Experience
Andy has been an active volunteer in Essex. He has been a classroom volunteer, a soccer coach, a blood and platelet donor, a Boy Scout Leader for many years and is a past and founding member of the Essex Energy Committee. He has also been involved with the Essex Jericho Underhill Ecumenical Ministry Foodshelf for nearly 20 years as a tribute to his father’s memory. Andy is the appointed representative for Essex to the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission Board of Directors and is the alternate Rep for the Chittenden County Communications Union District. Andy was first elected to the Selectboard in 2014 and has greatly enjoyed his service to the community.
